“When I finished watching the Shelter, I wanted to fling the disc across the room.  It ends in a most frustrating way, after a most frustrating narrative.  But as I yelled about my frustration with it, I found answers to questions I had tumbling out of my own mouth, and I started to come around on it.” –  READ THE WHOLE REVIEW HERE

Two new reviews of  THE SHELTER recently surfaced. Scoll down! You can now order THE SHELTER on DVD here!

WE ARE INDIE HORROR: “”The Shelter is a mysterious film with an atmospheric tone that carries the film’s melancholic exploration of love lost and regret with unbridled force. From his stumbling drunkenness to his explosive anger, Michael Pare, gives one of his best performances of his long career!” – READ THE REVIEW HERE

HORRORFUEL: “The pain and darkness one feels within can be the most horrifying of all. Fallon could be trying to say that rock bottom may not actually be the furthest one can reach when they fall. It’s dark and introspective, and has a very Twilight Zone feel about it. “ – READ THE REVIEW HERE

“Folks that enjoyed the film will get a lot out of the insightful Michael Paré video interview and there’s ample meat in my feature length audio commentary as well. THE SHELTER-Fallon-22

JOHN FALLON’S THE SHELTER COMING TO THEATERS, ON DEMAND THIS NOVEMBER

Written, directed and produced by John Fallon, The Shelter stars Michael Paré (Eddie and the Cruisers, The Virgin Suicides) in one of his most acclaimed performances in recent times.

Scream Horror Magazine says Paré “steals each and every scene” while Aint it Cool News says he “really gives it his all here, plunging to emotional depths I never thought he was able to do”.

Gayle James, Rachel Whittle, Amy Wickenheiser and Daena Turner co-star in “the smart man’s horror film” (Icons of Fright).

On a star filled night, widower and homeless man Thomas Jacobs (Michael Paré) finds shelter for the night when he falls upon a vast two-story house with the lights on and an inviting open front door. He strolls on in thinking he just caught a lucky break and for a while, it would appear as though he did. But soon enough, he realizes that the house won’t let him leave, as its doors are all locked while its windows cannot be opened or broken. Destiny has brought Thomas to this place. What does it want from him? Will he survive the ordeal?

The Shelter will be released in theaters and digital in North America on Nov 4 and on DVD on January 3 from Uncork’d Entertainment.

Scream Horror Mag gives The Shelter a glowing review!

facebooktwitterby feather

the_shelter_featured_image

Nice to start to year right. We just got our first review of 2016 via Scream Horror Mag and it’s a positive one! Here’s are two excerpts:

“With Pare in pretty much every frame, he deserves so much praise as he steals each and every scene and goes beyond the call of duty!”

“Whilst Fallon’s film will probably polarize most audiences, as it boldly goes where most films daren’t – relating a somewhat incongruent tale that does anything but spoon-feed viewers; in my book, that’s the epitome of the kind of films people need to be queuing up to catch instead of the spate of Hollywood horrors that don’t even try to get the audience’s grey matter muscles flexing.”

Shelter-n-616x328

John Fallon’s The Shelter will finally screen where it was shot; in Lafayette Louisiana at the end of November by way of a screening at the Southern Screen Film Festival (INFO HERE). The screening will be on Sunday November 22nd at 4:30PM.  Writer/Director John Fallon, DP and editor Bobby Holbrook and Producer Donny Broussard will present the film and do a QNA afterwards. You can also expect varied cast and crew to show up at said screening.

John Fallon was also recently interviewed by the FDTC Network. Here is an excerpt:

“Who you are, how you were raised and the nature of your spirituality (or lack of) will define what you get out of the film. I’ve had people thank me and hug me because of it. Some get it and love it, others don’t fully get it or are totally lost and love it anyways.” You can read the whole INTERVIEW HERE!

A talk with The Shelter actress Rachel Whittle!

facebooktwitterby feather

Rachel Whittle (Annie).Rachel Whittle (Actress – Annie)

What was it about the role of Annie that appealed to you?

I was very drawn to the role of Annie.  To this day, she is one of my favorites.  I am drawn to broken characters with a strong sense of survival.  Annie has such fight in her.  She is heroic in her own right.  We all do low and degraded things when we walk through the low places.

How did you go about preparing for the part?

Annie had to get to a very intense place.  I invested in the truth of Annie’s circumstances and how important these things were to her.   I spent a lot of time internalizing that need and connecting with her brokenness.

Michael Pare and you had a tense chemistry onscreen, how were you guys in between takes?

Well, he is handsome that’s for sure!  I think we really connected as actors.  I wish I had had more time to spend with Michael outside of filming…it was hard to connect personally between takes, because I was still Annie between takes. But he was wonderful, and it would be a dream to work with him again.  He was very gracious, and there is much I could learn from him!

What’s next for you? Anything in the works?

I have been getting into production work, and I love it.  I recently joined a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring a younger generation in film-making.  It’s called bckstry.org and I am excited for the doors it will open to be involved in films from start to finish.

———————–

The film will be screening at the SITGES FILM FESTIVAL on October 9th at 8:00PM at the Retiro as part of the Panorama Fantastic section! Writer/Director John Fallon will be on hand to present the screening.

New The Shelter review by Fromdusktillcon.com!

facebooktwitterby feather

the-shelter-exclusive-clip

New review! Fromdusktillcon.com just reviewed THE SHELTER. Here’s an exceprt:

“John Fallon certainly has an interesting style of direction.  He gets the most out of his actors certainly, which is an amazing skill for any director to have.  But on top of that, you can clearly see how much he loves the genre as his influences show up on screen. There were times the film reminded me of the works of David Lynch, Dario Argento, and even the legendary Alfred Hitchcock.  This is perhaps the highest compliment I can pay to Mr. Fallon.  His work is evocative of such luminous names in the industry yet this is undoubtedly his own film.  It’s quite frankly a horrifically beautiful sight to behold.”
